Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-03-29
Introduction
At pronunciations.org, your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We keep it simple because our service is simple — we help you pronounce words.
What We Collect
We collect minimal, anonymous data to keep the service running smoothly:
- Basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) — standard for any website
- Search queries — to improve autocomplete and add popular words
- Page view counts — to rank popular words and improve content
What We Do NOT Collect
- We do not require registration or collect personal information
- We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics
- We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties
- We do not store your voice recordings — pronunciation checks happen entirely in your browser
Microphone Access
The pronunciation checker feature requests microphone access through your browser. Your audio is processed locally using the Web Speech API built into your browser. No audio data is sent to our servers or any third party. You can deny microphone access at any time — the rest of the site works perfectly without it.
Cookies
We use a single cookie to remember your preferred interface language (e.g., English, Russian). No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies.
Third-Party Services
We use Google Fonts for typography. Google may collect anonymous usage data through font loading. No other third-party services are integrated.
Children's Privacy
Our service is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will post the changes on this page with a new "Last updated" date. We will not reduce your privacy protections without notice.
